I'm a nerdy, tinkering, overthinking wrangler of servers. I try too hard to "solve it once", which confounds some observers.

I'm an engineering lead for servers, storage, virtualization and other bits of IT infrastructure for a mid-size research university in the southeastern US. Like many people in my line of work, I can't seem to avoid running similar IT infratructure for myself, family, and friends when I'm off the clock.

I don't enjoy self-promotion but I do enjoy telling stories, building things, and solving problems. Sometimes those problems aren't even of my own making. Here I'll mainly tell stories about building things and solving problems, often in an unnecessarily-difficult way because I'll try to solve them too far into the future.

I might tell stories about things I've built or problems I've solved at work, but opinions and attitudes I express here are mine alone and don't necessarily reflect opinions or attitudes of my employers or customers.
